In this week's Operator I class, the students learned about screw compressors and reciprocating compressors.  On Friday, many students took the CARO exam at our RETA testing center.

In last week's HAZWOPER class, students became familiar with the techniques and procedures to contain an ammonia leak.  Additionally, the students participated in a live emergency response drill utilizing full personal protective equipment with a fully operational ammonia plant.

Last week was the Operator III course – the students operated many aspects of the IRTC refrigeration system including two stage, CO2 cascade, DX, Recirculated, Flooded, and hot gas heating.  The training center was also used for understanding and troubleshooting issues with an industrial refrigeration system.   At the end of the week, several operators took the CIRO exam at our RETA testing center.

This week was the SOP/PSM class – After thorough discussions of PSM / RMP including practice filling several forms and permits, operators completed mechanical integrity inspections of the operating ammonia lab.  The operators performed several SOPs including compressors, ammonia pumps, level columns, oil pots, evaporators, and valve groups.

In this week's Operator II class, the students learned about replacing relief valves and had a thorough discussion about hot gas defrosting of a system.
